Fortunately, The Milk Coming to the Screen!

fortunately the milkLast month, I mentioned reading Neil Gaiman’s Fortunately, The Milk. I can hardly claim to be a trend-setter, as it came out in 2013, but it was new to me, and reminded me of a whole host of other “Funny + Charming Books for Children Age 6-10” which I catalogued here.

NOW, for the awesome news: It has just been announced that Fortunately, The Milk will be made into a movie! The Guardian can tell you all about it. It involves Johnny Depp, so it’s sure to be delightfully strange.

And, since I mentioned it last month BEFORE this news was released, that means I am slightly prophetic. So let this be a lesson to you: listen to my book recommendations, people!

Book review time!
The Story of Diva and Flea
By Mo Willems + Tony DiTerlizzi
Loved this as a read-aloud for little ones that can sit still for longer picture books, or, as it's a beginning chapter book, great for ages 6-8 who are learning how to read more confidently by themselves.

#poemaday #nationalpoetrymonth #haiku #kerouac #wildlyread #poem #poetry First day of full-time hours in my new job as a bookseller for an independent bookstore, and it's staff pick time! I fell in love with this book years ago, before the movie was even a dream. Though I'm not a fan of the movie tie-in cover, I'll gladly place this book in readers' hands. . . .
