Being as big a fan of the BabyLit series as I am (for those who don’t know what BabyLit is, it’s a series of books produced by publisher Gibbs Smith that introduces classic literature to babies in the form of board books), you can imagine my joy when I discovered the My Little Cities board book series by the same creator, Jennifer Adams. Her board book ideas are absolute gold. I suspect her picture books are, too, though I have not picked one up yet myself, but they’re based on Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven, so how could they not be?
The My Little Cities books are exactly what they sound like: adorable board books each featuring a different city with bright, kid-friendly illustrations and short engaging text. If you’re at all familiar with Miroslav Sasek‘s This Is… series of picture books that do something similar, this is essentially an updated take for the younger audience.
There are four books in the series so far, with two of them released just this past July 2017. The first two featured New York and London, while the second set of two focus on San Francisco and Paris. I wonder where My Little Cities will take us next!
